Goals of the Group

Eating disorders are often a way of coping stemming from different emotional concerns. The group aims to shed light on the difficulties that come with eating disorders and their cause. The goal is also to develop a better understanding of personal triggers and build healthier coping mechanisms. The group aims to develop a holistic approach by focusing on other factors like bad body image, low self-esteem, and isolation that can in long term contribute to eating difficulties

Who is the group for?

The group is for any adult struggling with eating disorders and is looking for a space to understand it, learn more about it and cope with it. The group will be a safe space and will help build a healthier relationship with food. The group can also be of help to individuals who want to learn about it and support their loved ones going through it.

What will we talk about?

• The relationship between emotions and the behavior of eating
• Role of media and society in the formation of self-concept and body image
• The taboo around eating disorders makes it difficult to seek help
• Why do we obsess over food and what makes us indulge
• How to get out of a binge- restrict cycle
• Developing healthier coping mechanisms by improving emotional regulation
• Building a better relationship with food and relearning how to engage and eat with others.

Thank you for creating this space and the group. I felt so supported that I cried after my first session.

Sidharth Recovering anorexic

After a long time I felt like I belonged. The group became my accountability group. But not the toxic positivity, very very real support.

Anshula Recovering anorexic

As a plus sized girl with an eating disorder, mine isn’t treated as a disease or illness. It’s treated as a “fitness goal.” For the first time I found people who get it.
