Is Adoption For Me?

A closed group to help explore whether adopting a child is a choice you want to make in your life.

  • Starts 15th July, 2023
  • 4 Zoom sessions | Every Saturday 10:30 AM
  • Confidential | Small group, 6-8 people
  • 75-minute online video Zoom conversations
  • Led by therapist Serene Sarah George

Goals of the group

Through this series, our participants will get to reflect deeper on the question “Is adoption really for me?”.

As a closed group, we will focus on nurturing a safe, authentic and non-judgmental space to help participants gather insight/perspective on adoption and making an informed choice – both for those – both for those exploring adoption due to infertility and related issues or for someone who is considering adoption as a choice over biological methods.

Who is the group for?

The group welcomes anyone who is considering or is intrigued by adoption as a path to parenthood, either a single individual or as a couple.

“Is adoption a good choice for me?”
“I’m not too keen on a biological child, can adoption work for me?”
“I thought infertility is the end game, may be adoption is an option?”
“I really want to adopt, but I’m scared how my partner will respond to this.”
“I don’t know many people around who have adopted children- this is quite an unchartered territory for me.”
“Once the child grows up, wouldn’t they want to find their biological parents?”
“Will my family even accept an adopted child?”
“I don’t want to bring a child home and then make things more difficult for them!”

I’d give it a 10 [out of 10]. I’m surprised at how vulnerable and open everyone was in the first session.
